Forza Motrice
An historic roman site, the repair shop of the tram and buses in via Prenestina 45 has been trasformed into an exhibition space hung with images taken by five photographers, Olivo Barbieri, Raphaël Dallaporta, Marco Delogu, Petra Feriancovà e Don McCullin, and painted by five painters, Paolo Del Giudice, Mauro Di Silvestre, Stefano Di Stasio, Luca Padroni e Claudio Palmieri.
More than evading reality, the photographs of Marco Delogu allow us to take refuge in a recreation of reality. This Roman photographer does not reproduce the subject, but gives us his rendering of it. The dimensions of the print are life-like, the place depicted is the same one where the photographs are exhibited: past and present coincide, reality blends with its copy even it is colourless, faded in the process of blending with the past. This intriguing conceptual operation, obtained simply by removing the chromatic element, is the key, to these two triptychs, which can be viewed as installations. The Trambus operators, the drivers we see every day around the city without dishinguishing one from another, have removed their uniforms and show us their human side. The pictures do not seem posed, but instead they make us think of casual fragments of life; it is only the paper on which the photo is printed that interrupts this mirroring of the real.
