The book was published to coincide with the display of the Dancing Satyr in the Italian Chamber of Deputies, the fitting conclusion to the journey that took the statue from its discovery off the Sicilian coast near Mazara del Vallo in 1998 to its long and delicate restoration at the Istituto Centrale per il Restauro in Rome, which lasted four years and saw the use of cutting-edge technologies and the involvement of private individuals, local authorities and state bodies.
