Delogu’s portraits are the implicit bearers of an entire tradition, recalling the history of a genre that has, since ancient times, oscillated between “physiognomic” truth or “typical” rendering and the artist’s ability for individual penetration and ideal and formal recomposition. However, they are also conscious of its crisis, inaugurated by psychoanalysis at the beginning of the twentieth century.
